Rittal Portal Delivers Component And Device Data

The web-based Eplan Data Portal delivers around 100,000 pieces of the latest component and device data from numerous component manufacturers. A collection of device and component data - provided directly by companies such as ABB, Rittal, Phoenix Contact and Lapp Kabel - that has been verified for use in the Eplan platform, ensures engineering at maximum speed.

A desired component can be found by using a keyword, manufacturer name, product group or catalogue view in the direct-search function. Consistent and reliable data is entered directly in a project from the Eplan Data Portal - with all the convenient functions of a web-based solution. With just a click, complete macros of, for example, PLC devices, measuring transducers or frequency converters can be imported into an Eplan project.

Integrated connection diagrams and function templates provide the exact representation of complex devices and components. This ensures a smooth implementation due to the data being available in Eplan-ready format for immediate use in the project.

Rittal's PSM Measures Power Consumption Per Socket

Rittal has extended its Power System Module (PSM) range to allow the power consumption of individual servers and peripheral hardware to be measured per socket. New plug-in modules for PSM rails record the individual currents for each socket and show the power consumption of the devices connected, via three coloured LEDs on the right-hand side. A second LED on the left-hand side of the outgoing slots provides an overview of the overall power of the module.

The presentation logic is automatically adjusted to the mounting position to rule out any misinterpretation. Colour coding follows the traffic-light principle: green LEDs indicate that other equipment may now be connected safely; amber indicates increased current on the module and that before any other equipment is connected its installed load needs to be examined; red indicates that another consuming device would trigger the overloading of the power supply. Values can also be viewed on a digital display, enabling administrators to immediately monitor the power consumption of every piece of equipment.

In conjunction with the Rittal CMC-TC (Computer Multi Control Top Concept) sensor network, threshold values can be set and individual values, such as consumption data, can be centrally collected. The new modules are available with six or eight slots, which can be switched individually via the network. On one PSM rail, up to three modules can be installed in 2,000mm high racks or two in 1,200mm enclosures. Mixed assembly with different modules is also possible.

Rittal Develops Air-To-Air Heat Exchanger


Rittal has developed an air-to-air heat exchanger that has been specifically tailored to care for the needs of the mobile railway engineering industry. Available in both 24V DC and 110V DC versions, the exchangers have been constructed to EN 50 155 and vibration tested to EN 61 373.

Offering long-term reliable cooling, the exchangers extract heat from inside the enclosure to the surrounding environment, using only two working parts. Two fan motors housed inside the exchanger control the internal and external airflows independently. The exchanger matrix, made from aluminium, is light but durable and spray-finished in RAL 7035 to DB TL 918340.

Air-to-air heat exchangers offer a simple platform for servicing. Filter amts are available for dirty environments as well as a matrix module, which can easily be removed for cleaning with compressed air in less than five minutes. Quick connect plug electrical connections and the modular constructed fans allow fast serviceability and rapid replacement of parts in the event of failure.

Digital controllers monitor the internal temperature so if an enclosure reaches a pre-determined set point an alarm is displayed. A fault signal can also be sent via a floating contact.
