As standard, Auma actuators are equipped with a plug/socket connector for motor and control cables. Auma said that the advantage of this type of connection is that, once connected, wiring remains undisturbed, even if the actuator has to be removed from the valve. This plug cover is designed for all Auma weather-proof and explosion-proof actuators with or without controls.

Northwire Introduces All-Electric Vehicle Cables
Northwire, Technical Cable, has announced the availability of bulk cable, Coilboss Retractile Cords and complete cable solutions for the charging of electric and hybrid vehicles and equipment. All-electric vehicle (EV) cables can be designed to ship in five days with no minimum order length or quantity requirements. Northwire's EV cable exceeds industry standards for performance, is UL 62 approved and compatible with SAE J1772 connectors, UL 2594 and NEC 625 charging systems.
All EV cable options are available in standard or custom configurations. Customisation includes hybrid designs, colours, labelling and more. Northwire provides free design and prototyping services and has a team to help navigate automotive and EV standards. 'EV cable products are engineered for high performance in severe temperature extremes and harsh mechanical environments, including exposure to oil, chemicals, abrasion, crushing and more,' said Kevin DePratter, director of research and development.
EV cable solutions from Northwire include 600V EVE (TPE) and 600V EVT (PVC) cables available from 2AWG to 18AWG and 300V EVJE (TPE) and 300V EVJT (PVC) cables in 12AWG to 18AWG. Standard jacket materials are exposed-run (ER) rated TPE or PVC with nylon. These cables may contain hybrid data, signal and communication in any AWG size. All materials are RoHS compliant for EV charging stations in wet locations.
EV cables from Northwire are designed for use in electric vehicles (EV), neighbourhood electric vehicles (NEV); battery electric vehicles (BEV), hybrid vehicles, low-speed vehicles (LSV), personal electric vehicles (PEV), plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVS). Cables are designed to be compatible with charging applications, whether at residences, commercial establishments, parking facilities or dedicated charging stations.

ITT Field-Attachable PCCs Join Down-Hole Cables
The field-attachable ITT PCCs can be used to join round and flat downhole cables up to AWG 1. Installation of the PCCs is similar to that of existing ITT BIW field attachable connectors. The use of PCCs in place of splicing can save up to three hours of rig time. The BIW Power Cable Connector has been engineered to perform reliably in harsh hydrocarbon environments, with robust internal components housed in heavy-duty steel for long run life.
Outer connector bodies have been designed with the smallest possible size profiles, yet retain their mechanical strength. Mid-joint protectors for 4.5, 3.5, 2.875 and 2.375in tubing sizes provide mechanical protection for installed Power Cable Connectors and are available separately. Connectors are rated at 5,000V AC for up to 140A, depending on cable size. Pressure and temperature rating is 5,000psig at 149C (300F).
Energy Chain Prevents Loops And Strained Cables
The moving end of the energy chain is attached to the sixth axis with a mounting bracket. This system allows general movements, meaning no specific programming is required. Thanks to its compact design, the system can even be used if there is a valve cluster or distributor box on the third axis. Special protective jackets are now also available. They protect the energy chain from liquid-metal splashes or other materials.
These are important in hot conditions such as in foundries, or for paint or sealing applications. The protective jackets are pulled over the energy chain and held by a Velcro fastener or elastic, ensuring the chain's long service life. Igus has developed the E4.1 energy chain for safe energy-supply on the seventh axis. It allows high flexibility and robustness in all applications. Assembly times can be reduced by up to 80 per cent thanks to improved opening and separating bridges.
A quick-locking feature ensures little force is needed for opening and closing, even for fully loaded chains. Special design, including the tongue and groove link joint, improves the self-supporting length by more than 20 per cent. The tongue and groove joint ensures high rigidity even with strong lateral forces.
Multi-Pair Foundation Fieldbus M-EZ Cables Offered
All Datacell Foundation fieldbus cables are among the first to be FF-844 certified by the Fieldbus Foundation. This certification assures that the cable is electrically precise and meets Foundation fieldbus type A cable physical property requirements. Northwire has provided Foundation fieldbus cable for rugged petrochemical and other plant environments with networked process automation and control for more than 10 years.
All Datacell Foundation fieldbus versions are ITC (instrument tray cable)/PLTC (power-limited tray cable) rated for exposed-run (ER) applications and pass the same crush and impact tests for metal-clad cable (under UL 1569). ITC-ER/PLTC-ER cable allows users to do without the conduit when the cable is installed in accordance with recent National Electrical Code (NEC) amendments.
The line includes an arctic-rated ITC/PLTC-listed version with optional armour and a RoHS-compliant UL 1309 marine shipboard-listed cable with a cut- and abrasion-resistant TPE outer jacket; both are suitable for use to -60C. CSA, ABCD armoured cables are also offered. Datacell Foundation fieldbus cables are available as single-pair or multi-paired bus cables, with as many as 24 pairs in a single cable.
Shield options include individually foil-shielded pairs with drain wire as well as an overall foil with drain wire. Also, overall tinned copper braid is available for low-frequency noise immunity. The cable is offered in a variety of jacket and inner-conductor colours and options. Choices include 16 AWG - for longer runs - and 18 AWG in single-shielded, twisted-pair spur cables and as multi-pair cable. The cable is available with optional ground wire. The Characteristic Impedance Z0 is tightly controlled to be 100 ohms +/- 10 ohms; at 31.25 kHz.
Cables Handle Domestic And Industrial Jobs
YY, SY and CY flexible control cables are used as an interconnecting cable for measuring, controlling or regulation in control equipment for assembly and production lines. Anixter Components has added six new ranges of domestic mains and flexible control cables to its 2008/2009 product catalogue The range of mains cable includes industry standards such as 2192Y, 218Y and 318Y.
The 2192Y range is available in 0.5 and 0.75mm2 conductor sizes and the 218Y and 318Y are available from 0.5mm2 to 2.5mm2. These provide power for many domestic appliances including lightweight portable appliances, such as radios and table lamps, as well as those supporting heavier loads such as washing machines, spin dryers and refrigerators. For industrial applications, there is a range of YY, SY and CY flexible control cables.
These are used as an interconnecting cable for measuring, controlling or regulation in control equipment for assembly and production lines. The durable galvanised steel braiding on the SY types offers extra armouring for demanding applications such as machine tools, control gear and industrial conveyor installations.
Additionally, the CY types are enhanced by a copper screening, ensuring their suitability for installations where signal interference is a consideration. "It has always been our goal to offer our customers a one-stop-shop service for cable management products". said Andrew Fletcher, Technical Director, Anixter Components. "The introduction of wire and cable to our range is simply a natural progression".
