Lincoln Push Pull System Extracts Weld Fumes

For welding operations, Lincoln Electric offers weld-fume-extraction solutions for a variety of applications and fabrication environments. An alternative concept in shop fume extraction systems, Push Pull environmental systems are suitable for: manufacturing and fabrication applications where fume extraction at the source is difficult; fabrication of especially large work pieces; shops that utilise robotic and hard automation welding fixtures; and manufacturing where welding work cell locations change.

A Push Pull system captures shop air and welding fume within a given perimeter, filters it, then pushes the filtered air back into the working air in the same area. This method reduces energy costs, as the heated or cooled air from the shop is circulated back into the manufacturing location rather than exhausted outdoors. Lincoln Electric systems are able to filter only the immediate work area.

A Push Pull system is a general ventilation solution, which can be used to supplement targeted control of welding fume at the arc. Push Pull systems are intended for use when the goal is to improve general indoor air quality. A complete range of welding-fume solutions, including equipment intended for use specifically at the source, is also offered by Lincoln Electric.

Weld Controller Manages Three Transformers

Merlin Control Systems has developed a version of the PWC8 range of weld control units that is suitable for multiple transformer machines, or more complex DC machines. The PWCx3 controller features three independent control circuits in one printed circuit board with the facility to individually control three transformers, which can be on the same phase or on different phases of the mains supply.

This offers a more compact, easier to use and less-expensive means of controlling multiple transformer welding machines. Different configuration options are standard for this controller, so the same unit can also control a three-phase or polyphase DC machine at a much lower cost than is usual for this type of machine, according to Merlin.

As with all Merlin weld controllers, versions are available for simple manual operation and setup, or for communication with a higher-lever PLC-based control system. Different program sequences are available to suit spot, projection, seam and butt welding machines, with other options on request.

Miyachi Weld Controls Offer Fast Rise To Current

Miyachi Unitek mid-frequency inverter spot welding controls can be integrated into assembly processes utilising progressive dies, in-line presses or transfer presses. The company said that this enables customers to save time and money as they can bypass a secondary operation for attaching fasteners, studs and so on, by employing in-die welding.

Miyachi inverter weld controls offer a fast rise to current, which allows the user to take advantage of the high contact resistance, minimising the time required to produce a consistent, quality weld. Shorter weld times also facilitate better usage of the weld projection resulting in reduced weld splash, a smaller heat affected zone and less part deformation. The ISA range of inverter power supplies provides a high level of control for large-scale resistance spot welding.

Packaged in NEMA style enclosures, they are designed to deliver robust performance in the harshest of production environments. The ISA models can deliver 500, 1000, 2000 and 4000A of primary welding current, respectively.
