Contract Covers HRSG And Equipment For Refinery

A subsidiary of Foster Wheeler's Global Power Group has been awarded a contract to design, supply and erect a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) by Spanish company Repsol Petroleo. The HRSG and auxiliary equipment will be integrated in a cogeneration plant being built at the Repsol Cartagena Refinery in Murcia, Spain. Foster Wheeler will also provide start-up supervision services. Commercial operation is scheduled for the first quarter of 2012.

The HRSG will be coupled with a General Electric PG-6581 gas turbine and will recover heat from the gas discharge stream, producing high-pressure and medium-pressure steam for use in refinery processes and electricity generation at the Cartagena facility. The unit will be equipped with a bypass stack and diverter, as well as a post-firing and fresh-air capability, for continuous operation even after a combustion turbine trip.

Aker Awarded BP Norge Tie-Back Contract For Ula

BP Norge has awarded Aker Solutions an engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) contract for a tie-back from Oselvar to the Ula platform. The scope of work includes engineering, procurement, fabrication of module and other minor components, installation offshore and commissioning assistance. The execution phase is based on a front-end engineering design study performed by Aker Solutions.

The object of the tie-back operation is to transport oil and gas 24km from the Dong-operated Oselvar field to BP's Ula platform for processing. The oil will be processed at the platform. The gas will either be re-injected or exported via pipeline to Gyda and Ekofisk facilities. Work under the contract starts immediately and the project will be completed in November 2011. The project will be managed out of Aker Solutions' location in Stavanger.

Energy Services Contract Covers 170,000 Homes

Eltel Networks has been awarded a contract by the Danish utility EnergiMidt to deploy Echelon's Networked Energy Services (NES) system to all of its 170,000 residential customers. Gorlitz is providing its EDW3000 software, a meter data management system (MDMS) and integration platform which runs on top of the NES system software to provide a rich set of utility applications.

Revenue to Echelon for the project, including meters, data concentrators and software, is expected to total approximately US $18 million. Volume shipments should begin in the fourth quarter of 2008 and to continue into 2010. The NES advanced metering infrastructure from Echelon consists of a family of highly integrated, advanced electronic electricity meters accessed via a web services based network operating system over an IP networking infrastructure.

Unlike systems with a dedicated radio per metering point, multiple NES meters can share a single IP connection through the use of Echelon's proven standards-based power line networking technology. This drives down the per-point connection cost and enables the system to easily and cost-effectively incorporate new wide area networking technologies over the life of the system.
