Aries Introduces BGA Switch-A-Pitch Adapters

Aries Electronics has introduced BGA Switch-A-Pitch adapters that allow for small pitch devices to be used with large pitch boards. The new adapters in the series adapt 0.40mm devices to boards with a 1.00mm pitch. The BGA Switch-A-Pitch adapters, part of the company's line of Correct-A-Chip adapters, reduce costs by enabling the use of newer, tighter pitch devices with larger pitch boards, which are readily available and more economical, lowering the cost of the printed circuit board (PCB). The adapters have tops with BGA landing pads on a 0.40mm pitch and bottoms fitted with BGA balls on a 1.00mm pitch.

Open space around the adapter tops provides space for further components to be added to the design at a lower cost. High-density-interconnect (HDI) construction is reduced and the need for laser-drilled microvias on the motherboard is eliminated by adapting tighter pitch devices to larger footprints. The BGA Switch-A-Pitch adapters enable the use of standard line and trace spacing down to 0.003in (0.076mm). The adapters can operate at up to +221F (+105C) for FR4 and up to +266F (+130C) for lead free. The recommended PCB size for a 1.00mm pitch is 0.020in (0.50mm). Boards are 0.062in-thick FR4 or Rogers 370 HR with 1/2oz copper traces on both sides.

Solder spheres are 63/37 tin/lead or lead-free SAC 305. The adapters feature non-solder mask-defined (NSMD) pads finished with electroless nickel immersion gold (ENIG). As part of Aries' Correct-A-Chip adapter series, the Switch-A-Pitch adapters are designed to save users both time and money. Correct-A-Chip adapters allow the use of different termination styles or pitches on one board designed for an alternative style or pitch and can be fitted with either active or passive components for added functionality.

Aries adapters are available as adapter only or as a turnkey solution with mounted devices. Specialising in custom design and production, Aries offers standard products as well as special materials, platings, sizes and configurations upon request. The Switch-A-Pitch adapters are made to customer requirements. The pricing for a typical adapter with 32 positions is USD6.50 (GBP4.15) each in quantities of 1,000. Delivery is four to five weeks after the receipt of order.

In-line Adapters Now Support 1Gbps Networks

Napatech today extended its In-line range of adapters to support 1Gbps networks. The NT4E In-line and NT4E-STD In-line adapters provide full line-rate throughput at 1Gbps with zero packet loss, no matter the packet size. This allows vendors of network appliances, such as intrusion-prevention systems (IPS) or WAN Optimization solutions, to build high performance products based on cost-effective, standard server platforms.

Erik Norup, president of Napatech, said: 'It is no longer necessary to build proprietary hardware to achieve high performance. 'Cost-effective standard servers can be used with the NT4E and NT4E-STD, providing the data-processing horsepower and throughput to guarantee that all traffic can be analysed at full line-rate, in real-time.' There will still be a need for in-line network appliances that monitor, analyse and secure the 1Gbps links into 10Gbps networks.

One can expect that these links will be fully utilised, requiring full 1Gbps line-rate performance. The NT4E In-line and NT4E-STD In-line adapters are ideal for OEM network-appliance vendors in the network-performance monitoring, network test, network security, financial trading and policy enforcement markets, especially those that require full 1Gbps throughput.

The NT4E-STD In-line adapter is suitable for customers that need accurate time-stamping and full line-rate reception and transmission of 1Gbps data traffic with zero packet loss. The NT4E In-line adapter extends these features with advanced protocol and flow recognition, filtering and intelligent distribution of traffic processing on up to 32CPU cores. An extensive software suite is provided for ease of integration, supporting Linux, FreeBSD and Windows.

Conduit Adapters Make The Connection

A new range of conduit adapters designed for transitioning from conduit to 7/8-16UN Minifast, M12 Eurofast and M23 Multifast connectors. Hans TURCK has a range of new conduit adapters designed for transitioning from conduit to 7/8-16UN Minifast, M12 Eurofast and M23 Multifast connectors. The front of the adapter provides quick disconnect compatibility, while the back provides Screw Terminals for wiring inside the conduit. The conduit adapters are available with one or two connectors and attach to standard conduit bodies.

The conduit adapters are available with one or two connectors and attach to standard conduit bodies. These rugged Turck connectors provide IEC IP67 protection when all receptacles are connected or covered with plugs. Receptacle housings are available in nickel-plated brass or 316 stainless steel to suit many applications. The conduit adapter also includes a gasket and mounting hardware (8-32 by 0.5in) for ease of installation.
