Rautomead Non-Ferrous Continuous Caster Is Precise

Rautomead is to introduce its SQ continuous casting technology for oxygen-free copper wire rod production at the Wire Exhibition in Dusseldorf. SQ technology is said to provide the capability to produce oxygen-free copper wire rod with a superior surface quality, reducing the characteristic pulse-mark effect to a minimum. The SQ-quality wire rod is claimed to be particularly suited to the subsequent manufacture of enamelled wires and superfine wires and will eliminate the need for a shaving operation.

Producers with a need for such high-quality CuOF wire rod may specify SQ technology to be supplied as part of a new casting machine system. The SQ technology may also be ordered and retrofitted onto existing Rautomead RS model upward vertical continuous casting installations. Rautomead said SQ technology features an advanced casting die/cooler design and a precision casting control system. The company will also be promoting its full range of continuous casting systems, including technology for the production of: CuOF rods for subsequent wire drawing or flat-strip manufacture; CuMg rods for subsequent manufacture of shaped contact wires for high-speed train systems; CuAg rods for shaped wire and commutator sections; and brass rods for EDM wire.
