Okamoto Machine Tool Works has appointed NCMT to act as its sole sales and service agent in the UK with effect from the start of 2010. Manufactured in three factories in Japan, Singapore and Thailand, the company's range of grinding, polishing, lapping and slicing machines covers applications in the processing of metal, glass, ceramic and semiconductors.Dave Burley, managing director of NCMT, said that the company's intention is to concentrate on promoting high-end machines, especially those for applications requiring some degree of automation. He added that the aim is to mirror NCMT's existing activities in the UK, which centre on the supply of turnkey, high-added-value installations on behalf of Makino and Okuma.
