Powerpax Launches Mini RGB Remote Controller

Powerpax has launched a mini red-green-blue (RGB) remote controller to drive low-voltage RGB light-emitting-diode (LED) products. The PRGB4138 controller stores 12 different pre-programmed colour patterns. It adopts pulse-width-modulation (PWM) technology at 315KHz and enables the user to manage the colour pattern or speed remotely.

The unit measures 115 x 58 x 35mm and weighs 80g, making it simple to install, according to the company. It operates from an input voltage of 12VDC or 24VDC, with an output load current of 2A per line for three lines. The output power of the PRGB4138 is 60W (12VDC) and 120W (24VDC).

Powerpax Offers Constant-Current LED Drivers

Powerpax has launched a range of LED drivers in constant-current and constant-voltage versions. Incorporating models from 1-300W of power, the range includes plug-in LED drivers, DC-input LED drivers, PCB-mount LED drivers, leaded and screw-terminal-type LED drivers, all offering dimming and non-dimming outputs. Powerpax also offers a selection of IP67 waterproof LED drivers for indoor or outdoor use.

All LED power supplies feature short-circuit and over-load protection and carry full international safety approvals with a 100-240V AC input range. A free branding service is available for volume customers at no extra cost. Custom LED drivers are also available on request, with the option of UK or China design and manufacture.

Powerpax Launches Open-Frame Power Supplies

Powerpax has launched the PAXB60 series of open-frame power supplies with battery charging function. In addition to the main output, this range of battery back-up power supplies also has a charger facility that will fully charge a lead acid battery rated at 12V 15Ah or a 24V 7.5AH battery (depending on model selected) within 12 hours. The company said the unit is suitable for use in applications where it is crucial that uninterrupted use of equipment is maintained in the event of a power cut.

The batteries will automatically be recharged by the power supply and the unit will switch back to AC operation when the mains supply is restored. These battery back-up power supplies feature 'AC OK' and 'battery low' alarms, which can be driven by any external DC voltage from 4V up to 50V with a 30mA maximum load. If the main power source is interrupted, the PAXB60 switches to battery back-up mode and a TTL signal will be sent out to a monitoring unit to warn of impending equipment failure.

If the battery voltage goes down to 11V (for 12V battery bank) or 22V (for 24V battery bank), another TTL alarm signal will be sent out to warn of the 'battery low' situation. The battery back-up loop will be cut off when the battery voltage goes down to 10.5V or 21V to prevent batteries from over-discharging. The units also feature free air convection cooling, short-circuit, overload and over-voltage protection.

Battery polarity protection (by fuse) and battery low cut-off for the battery side in a small 4 x 2in design. The Powerpax battery back up power supplies operate at 84 per cent efficiency and carry UL, CUL, TUV, CE and CB safety approvals.

Powerpax Adds 18W Unit To Lugged Power Supplies

Powerpax UK has announced an 18W addition to its series of miniature lugged switch-mode power supplies. The lugged series of miniature desktop power supplies includes models to meet power requirements from 6W to 18W (with no minimum load) and with regulated outputs of 5VDC to 24VDC. The units feature an integral power cord, which removes the risk of accidental disconnection from the mains supply. A UK mains lead is fitted as standard but European, US, Australian or bare-ended mains-lead options are available on request.

All units come with a 2.1mm x 5.5mm x 12mm female barrel connector polarity positive centre as standard, but a list of other DC output connector options are also available. The 18W unit measures 92.2mm x 49.8mm x 26.3mm including the fixing lugs (or 72.2mm x 49.8mm x 26.3mm without the lugs) and is believed to be the smallest external power supply available at this power rating. The lugs allow the case to be fixed down to any flat surface, making them suitable for a range of applications, particularly CCTV and light-emitting-diode (LED) lighting requirements.

All models feature a universal mains input of 90VAC to 264VAC and 47Hz to 63Hz and meet energy-efficiency level IV requirements. All of the power supplies in this range feature short-circuit, over-voltage and over-current protection with automatic recovery. This series has been designed to provide excellent reliability and has a minimum meantime between failures (MTBF) of 50Khr. This range is compliant to UL and CE safety standards and is tested and compliant with EMC requirements. The product also complies with the requirements of the RoHS directive. Powerpax offers low minimum-order quantities across the range and provides a free branding service for orders of 500 pieces or more.
