Glacier Unveils M3 Series Handheld Computer Models

Glacier Computer has launched two M3 Series handheld computer models - the M300 and the M305 with pistol grip. The M300 and the M305 designed for a range of indoor and outdoor applications, including warehousing, retail and field service. The handheld computers are designed with many of the same attributes of Glacier's Everest Series of vehicle-mount computers, including ruggedisation and configuration flexibility.

The devices are built with a modular design that can be configured to meet the specific needs of every end user. Starting with the most basic model, added functionality can be configured so that customers are only paying for necessary functions. The M305 features an ergonomic pistol grip, designed for fatigue-free all-day scanning.

Both models utilise the M3 Series board-level ruggedisation technique to provide a lightweight, durable form factor that is sealed to IP65 and certified to withstand multiple 6ft (2m) drops to concrete. The new M3 Series models include a range of features and accessories, including Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, an optional radio-frequency-identification reader and standard 1D or 2D variable-range scanners.

ZP150 Material Results In More Colourful Models

Z Corporation has released ZP150 premium composite-build material, which allows the ZPrinter 310 Plus and Spectrum Z510 3D printers to produce more colourful, clearer and stronger 3D physical models. ZP150 also enables users of current-generation ZPrinters to use water as the curing agent for finishing multicolour models. ZP150 was released in June for the ZPrinter 450 and ZPrinter 650 3D printers and is also compatible with the new ZPrinter 350.

This announcement expands its benefits to the vast majority of Z Corporation's ZPrinter customers. ZP150 yields models that exhibit: a 40 per cent increase in 'green' strength for improved ease of use; a 40 per cent increase in the final strength of parts cured with Z-Bond 101; and a 100 per cent increase in the strength of water-cured parts.

Whiter whites are especially important in fields such as architectural modelling, where true white is the traditional standard. Water curing is the simplest, most affordable, safest and greenest post-processing method in the industry - ideal for early prototypes and education environments.

Kepco BOP Models For Driving Inductive Loads

Kepco has announced the availability of its 200W and 400W bipolar operational power supply (BOP) models optimised for driving inductive loads. The modified BOP units are designed to operate in a stable manner in current or current limit mode for loads up to 1 Henry. They are also stable with any R-L series load combination.

All specifications of the unit in voltage mode are unchanged from the standard model. In current mode the bandwidth of the BOP is reduced modestly. Correspondingly, the rise-and-fall time of the unit is increased (model dependent). Further, it is possible to reduce the bandwidth in current mode, in a predictable way, using one customer-installed component on the rear programming connector of the BOP.

This option makes the BOP more suitable for a variety of applications such as motor testing, testing of magnetic components (coils, speakers, and so on), industrial applications with inductive loads, driving CRT coils, cryogenic applications and powering correcting magnets for medical imaging applications or particle accelerators.

Sensgard Offers Hardhat Adaptor For Hearing Models

Sensgard has introduced a hardhat adaptor that allows workers to use Sensgard hearing protection devices. The adaptor clips to the back of virtually any hardhat and is designed for use with either the Sensgard SG 26 or SG 31 hearing protection model. The system, combining either model with the hardhat adaptor, weighs less than two ounces (57g), but both components are rugged and durable, even in hot and cold temperature extremes.

The SG26 and the SG31 have noise-reduction ratings of 26 and 31 decibels respectively, making the Sensgard system suitable for use in extreme-noise environments, including construction, manufacturing, energy/utility/nuclear power plants, refineries and mining operations. The SG 26 and the SG31 incorporate patented ZEM technology, which uses the mechanical energy of sound waves instead of electronics to minimise sound before it reaches the ears.

The devices provide consistent protection without distortion across all frequencies. The wearer is fully protected from harmful noise but can still discern speech and other important ambient sounds. They cost significantly less than ear muffs and are much more cost effective in day-to-day use than ear plugs. Glasses and safety goggles will not compromise the product fit or performance. The lightweight hearing protection device and the adaptor are claimed to be comfortable to wear, even in hot, humid environments.
