Camera Head Ideal For Space-Critical Applications

Toshiba Imaging Systems Division has added the miniature remote CMOS IK-HR1H camera head to its high-definition (HD) camera suite. It can be configured with either of two camera control units (CCUs): the IK-HR1CD and the IK-HR1CS. The ultra-small, lightweight remote camera head is approximately 1.18 x 1.37 x 1.41in and weighs 1.76oz (without lens).

Toshiba's 1/3in CMOS sensor is said to be ideal for imaging applications where space is critical and the remote head can be linked to the CCU via a standard, power-over- camera-link (PoCL) cable. Two output versions of the IK-HR1H are available to deliver added flexibility. The IK-HR1CD camera control unit offers a DVI-I with 720p/1080i/1080p and the IK-HR1CS CCU features an HD-SDI with 720p/1080i video signal outputs.

With the optional auto and manual white balance controls plus optional auto and manual electronic shuttering, the cameras are well-suited for scientific/life sciences, microscopy, and diagnostic imaging. Other applications that require a small, flexible, high-performance HD camera include specialty broadcasting, reality television and sports, microscopy, industrial video/inspection, and aviation.

BD Press Ideal For Hydroforming Applications

The Triform BD fluid cell hydroform press from Pryer has been featured at the Aging Aircraft 2009 Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. The Triform 16in-5 (5000lb/in2) BD 5000kN (500tonf) press weighs less than 9000lb and can be installed and operational within one hour of delivery. The BD series allows the benefits of true hydroforming compared to using low-pressure rubber pad presses.

These include: accurately dimensional parts; equal distributed pressure over complete tool; scratch-free parts; less warpage and curl; reducing use of multiple hit auxiliary piece blocks; use of lighter, less expensive plastic and epoxy tooling; and eliminating hours of hand finishing labour. Designed with simplicity and performance in mind, the economical BD series presses are ideal for most hydroforming applications.

This frame design allows forming parts up to 16in wide x 48in length and longer. Longer parts, which in the past were formed on traditional 'tray-style hydroform presses', can now be hydroformed on a Triform Model BD. The same high-performance bladder technology found on the deep-draw Triform models is coupled with this design to offer true hydroforming at traditional rubber pad press prices.

Ideal's 61-797 Tests Electrical Insulation

Ideal Industries has introduced the 61-797 Digital Insulation Meter, a rugged, industrial-grade tester designed for commissioning, routine troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. Tony Kumeta, general European manager of Ideal Industries (UK), said: 'The periodic testing of insulation for signs of deterioration will spot breakdowns in electrical systems, generators, switchgears and motor windings before failure occurs.

'More importantly, insulation testing can prevent the dangerous occurrence of short circuits or short to grounds.' The portable 61-797 can withstand the rigours of heavy commercial and industrial usage. Using test leads, the technician can quickly determine the integrity of insulation in new and existing wiring by identifying capacitive, absorption and leakage current at multiple test voltages (50, 100, 250, 500 and 1000V) and resistance up to 20G Ohms.

The 61-797 can also measure earth-bond resistance to assure verification of the continuity of the protective bonding. It automatically senses and displays AC/DC voltage to 600V and calculates the polarisation index (PI) and dielectric absorption ratio (DAR). Insulation testing is most effective when it is part of a scheduled maintenance programme. Repetitive testing is made easier with the 61-797's straightforward pass/fail function and its internal storage of values.

It also features twist-on alligator clips that fit over the test leads and a remote test-button for two-handed operation. The 61-797 was designed with a 600V Cat IV overvoltage rating and will safely disable itself if connected to a live circuit exceeding 30V. A live voltage hazard indictor is also prominently displayed on the front panel to warn the technician before use on an energised circuit.

Once testing is complete, the 61-797 automatically discharges capacitive voltage that may be a shock hazard from the equipment under test. The 61-797 comes with a carrying case, test leads and batteries.

Lightweight Hose Is Ideal For Air Tools
