Pic Microcontroller Terminal

A very simple terminal created by two Pic Microcontrollers. The first being an 18F1320. It is used for the keyboard scanner and it outputs a TTL level RS232 signal to the video chip. The video chip is a dsPic30F3012. It is receives the TTL signal and outputs the character on the screen. Is can output an NTSC 40 x 24 characrter screen based on the ASCII table. The upper 128 characters in the table are set up as simple graphics.

Schaffler Agrees Uniair Cooperation With ABB

Schaeffler and ABB Turbo Systems AG have signed a cooperation agreement with regard to the Schaeffler valve-control system, Uniair. The collaboration agreement will see ABB contribute its knowledge of efficient, single- and two-stage turbocharger technology, as well as marketing and sales of large, high-performance engines. The cooperation applies to units with a performance of 400kW (544 PS) per cylinder or higher.

The applications of these large engines are typically in marine, machinery and stationary operation. The advantages of the VVT system in conjunction with high-pressure turbocharging are in the fields of emission- and fuel-consumption reduction and in the improvement of the start, part load and acceleration behaviour. The Uniair fully variable, hydraulic valve-control system is behind the VVT system and enables the variation of valve timing and lift.

The Alfa Mito 1.4 Multiair is the first vehicle to utilise this technology, which is branded 'Multiair' by Fiat. The fully variable valve-control system reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions - in conjunction with downsizing - by up to 25 per cent. Uniair also improves the performance and driving characteristics of these optimised engines by increasing performance, torque and optimising the response of the engine.
