Foremost Releases Dual-Concentric Encoders

Emech distributor Foremost Electronics has announced the availability of the Elma E37 range of dual-concentric encoders. Offering two independent control functions in just one panel space, these new encoders offer space savings and increased control-panel functionality, according to the company. The E37 encoders are available with a standard resolution of 16 or 32 detents and may be specified with an integrated pushbutton for menu selection.

They each feature the Swiss Click Indexing System, which ensures consistent torque over the life of the encoder, and provide an excellent indexing feel with 0.5Ncm, 1.5Ncm, 2.0Ncm or 2.5Ncm switching torque. The encoders have an operational life of up to a million revolutions. Available for vertical or horizontal mounting with threaded or non-threaded bushing, the E37 encoders have a 11.5 x 12.3 x 9.1mm metal housing with metal, shaft, gold-plated contacts, have an operating temperature range of -40C to +85C, are MIL-STD-202G compliant and have optional IP60 or IP68 front-panel sealing.

Various customisation options are available, including shaft dimensions and shape, switching torque and pushbutton actuation force, indexing resolution and PPR. A full range of matching control knobs of various heights and diameters is available for the E37 encoders. Typical applications include cockpit controls, radios and navigation, desktop and mobile radios, professional portable audio equipment and applications where the user interface is space critical.
