Gewefa is offering a range of precision-milling and collet chucks that are fully compatible with the company's spindles. The Gewefa MX high-speed milling chuck is said to offer stronger gripping power - claiming 100 per cent more gripping torque compared to a 16-collet system - as a result of its smaller taper angle and a nut-free design that minimises centrifugal force and vibration at high speeds.
Its design, where the collet is drawn into the chuck body from the back, provides uniform all-around clamping and ensures fine run out. The slim design minimises interference issues and enables precision machining into hard-to-access pockets, particularly when milling. The Gewefa SX precision collet chuck features a smaller taper-angle design for maximum grip between the chuck and the cutter shank, with better concentricity over conventional collet systems, according to the company.
The flat-ground shoulder in the collet nut ensures the hold on the cutter is precisely along the tool holder centreline. This chuck is suitable for light milling, semi-finishing and high-speed machining. Balanced versions of both tool holders are available for very high-speed machining.
