BSIF Offers Health-And-Safety Advice For Companies

The British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) provides a range of health-and-safety advice for companies. Following recent high-profile cases in the news, the need for companies to comply with health-and-safety legislation has been highlighted. According to the federation, there is no room for complacency following the amendments to the Health and Safety Offences Act 2008, making individuals liable as well as companies. It is now more important than ever to get the correct advice and to know who to turn to for guidance.

The BSIF provides a single authoritative voice representing the views of the health-and-safety industry in both the UK and Europe. It is an association for the PPE Directive (as designated by BIS) and is recognised as a competent authority by the Health and Safety Executive. With its purpose to support and represent suppliers, the BSIF acts as an information source, providing direction in all health-and-safety matters, from legislation to personal protective equipment (PPE) and trustworthy suppliers to both its members and non-members.

The BSIF has already highlighted the problems created by substandard safety products and PPE available in the market and would like to see counterfeit and illegal products eliminated from the marketplace. There has been an increase in these rogue products and the federation claims that it can offer advice on products that are causing concern, including access to information to assist the identification of legitimate products. This can be helpful when using own-brand products, which may not originate from a main distributor.
